Gaynor is a clinical psychologist with a PhD in psychology and over ten years of clinical experience in private practice and the university sector. Gaynor values research and evidence-based practice however her true interest lies in working therapeutically with individuals.
Gaynor sees people with a wide range of personal circumstances and issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma/PTSD, and adjustment issues, and supports people experiencing difficulties in their relationships and with social connections. She also has a special interest and extensive experience working with students and professionals on work-related problems such as procrastination, perfectionism, exam and presentation anxiety, stress management and burnout.
Gaynor is trained in a number of evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR (used for trauma and processing difficult memories) and schema therapy. Her strong research background means she knows the importance of understanding the evidence base of therapy, while prioritising a client's own individual needs, preferences and readiness when working towards their therapy goals.
Gaynor is a warm and friendly therapist with a grounded nature who strives to ensure clients feel heard and understood, and that their issues are clearly identified and always centred throughout their therapy.
